And then it was time for action!
tonhalleNIGHT 2026 was all about film music. Here we show the best photos.
The Tonhalle Zürich has never been seen like this before: In the concert foyer, the silhouettes of Marilyn Monroe, Yoda and Charlie Chaplin were draped across the walls. Huge film reels floated around the room. And, of course, there was a popcorn stand in addition to other culinary offerings ...
The concerts were also dedicated to film music. In the foyer, ensembles led by trumpeter Heinz Saurer and violinist Irina Pak played hits from various soundtracks. And in the main hall, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, conducted by Paavo Järvi, presented works by Shostakovich, Khachaturian, Nino Rota and John Williams. During the encore, the audience was asked to join in: together with presenter Sandra Studer, they sang "Que sera, sera" from the Hitchcock film "The Man Who Knew Too Much".
The large concert hall was also unrecognisable. The concert chairs had disappeared, replaced by long tables. Once again, the tables at this fundraising event organised by the Freundeskreis of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich featured voucher booklets with attractive offers: You could bid for house concerts or other encounters with musicians - or even order skis with our logo. The proceeds will benefit our Beethoven Festival 2027.
And then it was time for action! From 11 p.m., the concert foyer was party time with DJ Muri, dancing and celebrating. The last guests didn't leave the Tonhalle until 3am.
But the next tonhalleNIGHT is coming! The date has already been set: 22 January 2028.
