Igor Levit has played many things at the Tonhalle Zurich - but never anything by Chopin. In an interview, he once said that he prefers to listen to the composer's works rather than play them; now he has changed his mind and is putting Chopin's Sonata No. 3 at the end of the recital programme with which he ends his Zurich week. This is preceded by Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 2 and Schumann's "Nachtstücke", with which he transferred the dark atmosphere of E.T.A. Hoffmann's eponymous tales to the piano.
