What remains is the music!

Dear audience

Many days have already passed since our season was interrupted so abruptly and we have been torn out of an extremely intensive phase of work with our Chief Conductor and Music Director Paavo Järvi –with planned CD recordings, live broadcasts, many exciting concerts with exceptional artists and together with you, dear classical music enthusiasts.

We fully understand the directives of our state government, which, due to the rapidly increasing incidence of the corona virus SARS-CoV-2, must constantly adapt the measures for the protection of the persons at risk. The interruption of our concert season is hard, but under these circumstances it is unavoidable.
Our initial idea of bringing the concerts to your home via live streaming has proven to be unfeasible due to the tightened regulations.
We are all dismayed by these new circumstances. We are worried about our loved ones, about the vulnerable people among us, and we ask ourselves how we can overcome this crisis. And, of course, like countless other people, we hope that it will not affect us existentially.
Now we must persevere and wait until the situation defuses. We have to give up what we so gladly do: to share our joy and enthusiasm in making music together with you.
Music heals wounds, they say. Yes, we are convinced that music will help us get over this difficult time. We musicians will continue to work with our instruments at home and draw strength from them. Perhaps you too will have the opportunity to make music or listen to music and find comfort and confidence in it.
Our greatest wish is to be able to play for you again in better times! We very much hope that things will return to normal soon, that we will be able to fill the concert hall in the Tonhalle Maag with music again and that we will be able to experience unforgettable concert evenings with you.

We think of you, dear audience, and wish you good health!

We look forward to seeing you again.

Your
Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich
