The 26-year-old Chinese pianist Junyan Chen has not only amassed an impressive collection of competition successes, but has also developed a distinctive profile: she plays a lot of contemporary music, performs chamber music intensively and runs her own festival in England. She now presents a varied programme in the Série jeunes: Rachmaninov is one of her favourite composers, with Brahms she has a classic in her luggage - and with the "Children's Songs" by jazz pianist Chick Corea, she strikes yet another completely different note.
