What a marathon! Rudolf Buchbinder plays Beethoven's five piano concertos in two concerts, conducting the orchestra from the piano. Buchbinder can be described as Beethoven's most loyal fan: The pianist has performed each of these concertos hundreds of times, and he has recorded them three times - but even though he has long known them by heart, he always finds new details in the numerous historical editions in his collection. Concertos 2-4 are on the programme for the first evening: two major works that frame the only minor work in this group.
