Playlist Ammann und Prokofjew

With the Prokofiev cycle, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich is continuing its collaboration with the Zurich Opera Orchestra, which began in 2023 with the Rachmaninov cycle. The first concert in this cycle is also the debut of Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino - who has just as many fans in the real concert world as he does as a YouTube phenomenon. He will play Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3, which was premiered in Chicago in 1921 with the composer as the soloist. Paavo Järvi will also conduct Symphony No. 4 in the 1947 version, and finally - as in most of the programmes in this cycle - there will be an orchestral work by our Creative Chair Dieter Ammann: "Turn" once again demonstrates not only his preference for short titles, but also his talent for clear, energetic gestures.
