SUMMARY:Chamber Music Matinee
DESCRIPTION:"In flux" is the theme of this season's chamber music matinees. Our musicians around Elisabeth Harringer-Pignat have put together a programme to match. The violinist explains: "Darbellay's piano trio with the auspicious title 'Acqua (Ode au Rhône)' is a work whose world premiere I heard at the chamber music festival in Champery and which made a great impression on me at the time. The technical demands are high, the undulations are refined and not easy to realise. In Schubert's Adagio in E flat major, on the other hand, time seems to stand still. In it, he (allegedly) quotes a folk tune from Gmunden in Upper Austria, which he heard while travelling through the Salzkammergut in 1825. Schumann's Piano Quintet completes the programme. His wife Clara, who played the piano part at the premiere in Leipzig's Gewandhaus in 1843, described it as 'a work full of vigour and freshness'."
