You can swap all sorts of things - even orchestras! At least that's what Paavo Järvi and Gianandrea Noseda, General Music Director at Zurich Opera House, are doing. As with their joint Rachmaninov cycle in 2023, they are also facing each other's orchestra for the current Prokofiev cycle. In this concert, Noseda will conduct the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, with Hilary Hahn as the soloist. The American violinist wowed the Zurich audience last March with Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1, and now she presents No. 2, accompanied by Prokofiev's ironic and enigmatic Symphony No. 6 - and the orchestral work "glut" by our Creative Chair Dieter Ammann. The Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich premièred the work in 2016, since when it has been performed in London, Paris, Berlin and various other cities: an unusually rapid and extensive career for a contemporary work.
