On August 29th, Room to Read & Förderkreis Kammermusik Schweiz will organize a special concert. The proceeds will go to support Room to Read, a leading nonprofit supporting children's literacy and girls' education. On this occasion, we are delighted to welcome you to this unique venue full of history, which is also home to the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich.
The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich is one of Europe’s leading ensembles. Under our Music Director and Chief Conductor, Paavo Järvi, the orchestra with its approximately 100 musicians from 20 nations – presents around 50 different programs each season.

In this edition of tonhalleCRUSH, the orchestra will perform works by two very different composers: an early work by Anton Webern, and a late one by Richard Strauss. The latter will be interpreted by South African soprano Golda Schultz, who usually performs on the opera stage. Music Director Paavo Järvi will talk about the works in this moderated short concert.
