International Film Music Competition

Registration for the 12th International Film Music Competition

A springboard for talented film music composers from all over the world.

The twelfth edition of the International Film Music Competition will take place on 5 October in collaboration with the Zurich Film Festival. Composers from all over the world are cordially invited to register for the film music competition.

This time, the challenge is to score the Oscar-nominated short film "The Flying Sailor" by Amanda Forbis and Wendy Tilby. The seven-minute animated film is based on the true story of a sailor who was thrown through the air when a ship exploded. What goes through his mind – that's what the film makers came up with. The film can be downloaded now.

The jury of internationally renowned musicians and filmmakers will nominate three works from the competition entries. The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich will perform these three film scores as world premieres at the Tonhalle Zurich under the direction of Frank Strobel.

The winner will receive the Golden Eye for "Best International Film Music 2024" - an award worth CHF 10,000.

Entries for the competition are possible from 18 March 2024.
Submission deadline: 17 May 2024.
